My story:
After the birth of my son in 2013 I recognized the importance of a full spectrum approach to Doula care. I started my education and experience of Birth Doula support in 2014 exclusively as a volunteer Birth Doula. Soon after I expanded my passion and expertise by training to be a Postpartum & Infant Care Doula with ProDoula. I believe everyone deserves compassionate care during their postpartum experience. Through my training it allowed me to volunteer as a Postpartum Doula empowering clients as they navigated their own unique postpartum journeys. As a single parent myself, I primarily worked with other single parents. In 2019, I gave birth for the second time, but as a surrogate for two intended fathers. During this postpartum experience as milk donor, I had a really challenging exclusive pumping. It inspired me to dive into pursuing education to become a Certified Lactation Counselor through the Healthy Children's Project, Inc. After years of extensive education and experience, Peony Doula Co., LLC was born in the Fall of 2019. It was then that I decided to completely retrain and certify as a Full Spectrum Doula with Doula Training International. This organization aligns with my values rooted in Reproductive Justice, advocacy for bodily autonomy and centering queer reproductive experiences. During my time as a Support group facilitator with Postpartum Support international, I had the privilege to attend the Perinatal Mood Disorders: Components of Care training. My passion for postpartum support expands beyond the one-on-one care I provide clients. During the 2022 election season I was the Cumberland County Regional Lead for Paid Family Medical Leave Ballot Initiative. I formally have served on multiple advocacy and working groups to push for legislative change in the State of Maine. During my time serving as a DEI and Advocacy Committee Member with the Maine State Breastfeeding Coalition, I was honored when they asked to use my Postpartum & Lactation Education curriculum to create their own toolkit LGBTQIA2S+ Reference for Professionals. I am now currently continuing my education in college with the intention of becoming an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.

A little more about me
- I love hiking. I grew up in North Carolina and my dream is to hike the entire Appalachian trail.
- I don’t use a smart phone and consider myself a digital minimalist. That may sound bananas as a small business owner but I do have an e-ink phone that works just fine for what I need.
- I prefer riding my bike around the city over driving my Subaru.
- I love cooking vegan and gluten free meals. I have a lot of fun working on the Totally Awesome Vegan Food Truck during their busy season.
- Reformer pilates is one of my favorite new found hobbies. It makes me feel like my best self.
- I read mostly nonfiction and get really excited while diving into theory.
